• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Travelers must work two of the three winter holidays
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Patient Ratio: Typically 1:7

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg Tele RN experience
• Previous travel nursing experience required
• Active Virginia RN license or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission
• Epic charting experience required
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association
• ACLS certification through the American Heart Association
• Comfortable caring for adult and geriatric patients
• Strong telemetry interpretation and post-op nursing skills
• Must be willing to float, work holidays, and meet scheduled weekend coverage
• Candidate must live more than 50 miles from the assignment location

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-operative nursing care for orthopedic, spinal, bariatric, and colorectal surgery patients
• Care for Level III trauma patients and Med/Surg overflow as census allows
• Monitor up to 8 telemetry patients and recognize changes in cardiac rhythms promptly
• Manage a variety of post-surgical and medical conditions in a fast-paced inpatient unit
• Administer medications, perform assessments, and support recovery planning
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to promote safe, effective patient care
• Use strong clinical judgment to prioritize care for a typical 1:7 patient ratio
• Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and follow unit protocols
• Support patient education, mobility, wound care, drains, and other post-op needs
• Contribute to a team-focused environment built around quality care and patient safety
