Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift oncology unit requiring 2 years of acute care experience and telemetry interpretation skills.

Details

• Medical oncology unit within a cancer hospital setting
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
• Cares for adult and geriatric patients with all subtypes of solid tumor cancers including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancer
• Patients range from new diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life transition care
• Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, though may be 1:5
• Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs
• No set or blocked scheduling offered
• Floating required to other MedSurg Oncology units
• Uses Epic for computerized charting

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required
• ONS Chemo certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience, current and consistent within the last 12 months, in the specialty applying for
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Required skills: telemetry interpretation and monitoring, IV therapy/phlebotomy, starting and maintaining IVs, central line blood draws, blood product administration, isolation precautions/PPE
• Preferred skills: accessing/managing ports, chemotherapy administration, tracheostomy care/management
• Epic charting experience required
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or supervisor; a Charge RN is acceptable for the second reference; coworker references not accepted

• Previous travel experience preferred but not required, and first-time travelers are welcome to apply

• Former employees eligible for travel assignment once away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of the health system are ineligible to be hired as travelers
• RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprinting promptly upon accepting an offer, including lifetime background checks
