Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on a high acuity transplant and hepatology unit, requiring 2 years of acute care experience and a CO or compact RN license.

Details

• 36-bed surgical unit specializing in Solid Organ Transplant, Thoracic Surgery, and Hepatology patient populations
• Rotating day (7:00-19:30) and night (19:00-7:30) 3x12 hour shifts across various days of the week
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs
• Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5, with transplant patients staffed at 2:1 or 3:1 during acute healing phases
• Ratios may flex up based on staffing and unit needs
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within scope, including to sister facilities in the Metro region
• Uses Epic EMR
• Navy scrub color required

Requirements

• Active RN license (CO or Compact) currently in hand
• AHA BLS certification required; CPI preferred
• BSN preferred
• Minimum 2 years of acute care experience in a high acuity unit required
• Prior experience with flexible/flexed staffing ratios required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line blood draws, and PICC line management
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and interpretation of ABGs preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and dysrhythmia management
• Wound care/wound vac and IV insulin protocol experience preferred

Additional Information

• Care for a highly acute surgical population including solid organ transplant (lung, liver, kidney, pancreas), thoracic surgery, and hepatology patients
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams from Transplant, Hepatology, and Thoracic Surgery services
• Kidney and liver transplant patients admitted directly to the unit from the OR during their most acute healing phase
• Completion of facility-specific training modules required within the first week of assignment
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods during peak seasonal times
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility may be eligible for a local bill rate
• Candidates previously employed by the health system or its affiliates must disclose this information
• Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment must wait at least one year before rebooking
