Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring WI or compact RN license and prior acute care experience with a mandatory telemetry exam.

Details

• Med/Surg Tele unit at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
• Adult and geriatric med/surg patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under the Family Medicine service
• Unit may include 0-10 Department of Corrections (DOC) patients housed in a locked wing, always accompanied by a DOC officer
• 12-hour Day/Night rotating shifts (0700-1930 / 1900-0730) with every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Day/Night rotators limited to 2 shift flips per 6-week scheduling period unless requested otherwise, with 36 hours off between flips
• Floating required as needed
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WI or compact RN license required
• BLS certification required (AHA only)
• Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in the specialty being submitted for
• Experience starting and maintaining IVs required
• Epic EMR experience required, within the past 12 months preferred
• Must pass a telemetry exam with strict passing criteria prior to starting, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and an 80% or higher overall score
• First-time travelers considered only with 5 years of previous inpatient med/surg experience

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric med/surg and telemetry patients, including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management
• Skills utilized include IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, PICC line management, feeding tube care, and administration of medications such as heparin, insulin, and PCA
• Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, oxygen administration, and surgical drain management is valued
• Previous law enforcement patient care experience is a plus given the unit's DOC patient population
• Must reside within 50 miles of the facility; local candidates not accepted
