Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 13-week night/day assignment requiring WI or compact RN license, 2 years of acute care experience, and successful completion of a telemetry exam.
Details
- Med/Surg Tele unit caring for adult patients with a variety of medical/surgical conditions under the Family Medicine service
- Unit includes a locked wing for Department of Corrections (DOC) patients, who may comprise 0-10 of the unit census at a time and are always accompanied by a DOC officer
- 12-hour Day/Night rotating shifts, 0700-1930 or 1900-0730, with every other weekend rotation
- Primary shift is days with flexibility required for night shifts based on operational needs
- D/N rotators limited to 2 shift flips per 6-week scheduling period, with 36 hours off between a night shift and a following day shift
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- Floating required as needed
- EPIC EMR experience required
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required
- BLS certification required (AHA only)
- Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
- Experience starting and maintaining IVs required
- EPIC charting experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
- Must pass a telemetry competency exam prior to starting, including rhythm identification and heart block interpretation criteria
- Experience in IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, feeding tube care, and administration of Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medications
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and unit-based telemetry monitoring
- Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, wound care/wound vac, oxygen administration, and nasal cannula use
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to med/surg and telemetry patients, including monitoring, medication administration, and wound care
- Deliver care to patients with substance withdrawal, neurological/psychiatric needs, and surgical drains
- First-time travelers will be considered if they have 5 years of previous inpatient med/surg experience
- Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
- Experience with law enforcement or correctional patient populations is preferred
- Located at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital ranked as Wisconsin's #1 hospital
