Description

American Traveler is hiring a Neuro ICU RN for a Level I Trauma teaching hospital, requiring prior neuro ICU experience and VA or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Neuro ICU setting treating stroke, neurosurgery, complex spine, and other neuro-specific diagnoses
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday required per 13-week contract
• Floating required within skillset
• Epic charting experience required

Requirements

• Active VA state or compact RN license required; pending license accepted only for candidates holding a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Previous neuro ICU experience required
• Large Level I/Level II trauma facility experience required
• Proficient in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and Rapid Response/Code team response
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, central/peripheral line care, port access/management, arterial line management, and PICC line management
• Experience with continuous IV paralytics/neuromuscular blockade, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Neuro-specific skills required: CVA/acute stroke management, EVD care, hypothermia protocol/Arctic Sun, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, post-craniotomy and post-neurosurgery management
• Respiratory skills required: BiPAP/CPAP assistance, ventilator management, and ETT/NT suctioning
• Previous charge experience preferred

• Care for complex neuro ICU patients requiring advanced monitoring and critical interventions
• Work within a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center and primary teaching hospital affiliated with a medical school
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
