Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU position requiring ICU experience and prior travel experience managing craniotomy and EVD patients.

Details

  • Work in the Neuro ICU at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital
  • Care for both ICU and IMC patient populations
  • Night shift schedule of 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 07:30
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Some holiday coverage required
  • Floating required as needed
  • Uses Epic EMR system

Requirements

  • Active WI or compact RN license
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification through AHA only
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty
  • Prior travel experience required with mandatory expertise in craniotomy and EVD management
  • Epic charting experience required, ideally within the past 12 months
  • Neurosurgery experience preferred
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Must pass a telemetry exam with strict criteria prior to starting, including 100% identification of lethal rhythms and an 80% or higher passing score
  • Experience with EVD, ICP monitoring, lumbar drains, and post-craniotomy/neurosurgery management required
  • Skilled in ventilator management, arterial line management, central line care, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Experience with CVA/acute stroke management and traumatic brain injury care required
  • Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and arterial blood gases

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to complex neuro and surgical ICU patients, including those with craniotomies, EVDs, and traumatic brain injuries
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel position, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Responsibilities include managing ventilated patients, administering blood products, and monitoring for multisystem organ dysfunction
  • Facility is ranked Wisconsin's #1 hospital and recognized as a leading academic and referral center
  • Parking permit may be required for onsite parking, with alternative transportation options available
