Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring OH or Compact RN license and 2 years of Level III/IV NICU experience, including 1 year at Level IV.

Details

• Work in the NICU of a children's hospital environment
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• 13-week assignment length
• Float to PICU, CV PICU, stepdown, and MS units as needed
• Float to BPD (bronchopulmonary dysplasia) NICU with average patient length of stay of 2-3 years, requiring comfort with frequent trach care and heavy parent involvement
• Float to other specialties including CVPICU, PICU, MS, and rarely ED
• Float to other campuses including Riverside, St. Ann's, Grant Medical, Dublin Methodist, and Doctors Hospital
• Cares for neonates across all gestational ages, including <24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, and >34 weeks
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (OH State or Compact) required in hand
• Current certifications: BLS and NRP required, PALS preferred
• Minimum 2 years total Level III/IV NICU experience required, including at least 1 year of Level IV NICU experience
• Epic EMR experience required
• Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC management, and central line blood draws
• Experience with neonatal medication administration including anti-seizure medications, antibiotics/antivirals, IV vasopressors, steroids, and surfactants
• Experience with neonatal dosage calculations
• Skilled in neurologic care including assisting with lumbar puncture, ICP monitoring, seizure disorder management, and therapeutic hypothermia
• Experience managing Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome and VP shunts
• Skilled in respiratory care including bubble CPAP, high frequency ventilation, HFNC, ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), nitric oxide, oscillators, and tracheostomy care
• ECMO experience preferred
• Experience managing chest tubes, meconium aspiration, and respiratory distress syndrome
• Skilled in GI care including feedings, NG/NJ tube management, and care for gastroschisis/omphalocele and NEC
• Experience with cardiovascular dysrhythmia interpretation and pre-cardiac surgery care preferred
• Experience with infectious disease precautions including neonatal sepsis workup and isolation/PPE protocols
• Experience attending high-risk deliveries
• Experience with endocrine/metabolic care including blood glucose monitoring, phototherapy, and insulin administration
• Two supervisory references required for consideration
• Cannot have worked as a permanent employee for this health system within the last 2 years

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care to a diverse patient population including extremely premature and critically ill neonates
• Floating to multiple units and campuses is a significant point of emphasis and requirement for this role
• Two-part interview process including an initial screening and a second interview with the unit manager
• Must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted for this position
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
