Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU (PICU) position at a leading children's hospital, requiring current PICU experience, Epic proficiency, and an OH or Compact RN license in hand.

- PICU setting within a large pediatric children's hospital
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00–19:30)
- 13-week contract
- Epic EMR required
- Floating required to NICU, CV PICU, ED, stepdown, and med/surg units as needed
Requirements
- Active OH or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent, current PICU experience required; candidates with 1.5–2 years may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Current PICU experience must be reflected in work history; CVPICU experience alone is not sufficient
- Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers may be considered with closer to 3 years of PICU experience
- Must have recent Level I facility experience
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Proficiency with Epic EMR required
- Core respiratory skills required: End-Tidal CO2 monitoring, care of ventilated patients, care/maintenance of acute airway, suctioning (ETT/NT), tracheostomy care
- Core cardiovascular skills required: hemodynamic monitoring, interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- IV therapy skills required: administration of blood and blood products, central line care, starting and maintaining IVs
- Pediatric dosage calculations required
- 2 supervisory/managerial references required for consideration; at least one must hold a manager or supervisor title (charge nurse references do not qualify)
- Must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Additional Information
- Preferred skills include: BiPAP/CPAP management, HFNC, ABG interpretation, chest tube management, ventilator management, arterial line management, IV vasopressors, continuous sedation, anti-seizure medications, antiarrhythmics, procedural sedation, ICP monitoring, and use of the Broselow system
- Candidates who have previously worked permanently at this facility must have a gap of at least 2 years before being eligible
- Floating between units is a strong point of emphasis at this facility; travelers must be prepared and willing to float as assigned
- Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are not eligible for this position
