Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level III/IV NICU position requiring 3 years of NICU experience and a WA or compact RN license.

  • Level III/IV NICU unit within a hospital setting caring for neonates from 23-24 weeks gestation and up
  • 77-bed unit with an average census of 50
  • Dedicated Admit Nurse typically handles admissions, so travelers usually do not admit babies
  • Rare floating required, but may float to Issaquah or Edmonds Special Care Nursery, or to Pediatrics/Newborn Nursery to care for infants only
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Attends high-risk deliveries and neonatal surgeries
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Block scheduling available for those preferring 3 or more consecutive shifts
  • Epic EMR preferred

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 3 years of Level III NICU experience, or 2 years of Level IV NICU experience required
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required
  • Experience with CPAP/BiPAP, high frequency vents, oscillators, and ventilators required
  • Experience with blood and blood product administration required
  • Experience with cardioversion/defibrillation required
  • Experience with cooling/warming blankets (therapeutic hypothermia) required
  • Experience with feeding tubes, including oral/nasogastric/nasojejunal tube placement and management required
  • Experience with PICC/central line care required
  • Experience with syringe pumps required
  • IV therapy skills required
  • Neonatal dosage calculation skills required
  • Experience with neonatal medications and emergency medications required
  • Experience with gastrointestinal feedings (bottle, breast, gavage) required
  • Care experience with neonates across gestational ranges, including under 24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, and over 34 weeks required
  • 2 professional references covering 1 year within the last 3 years required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Care for a wide range of NICU patients including those requiring respiratory support, therapeutic hypothermia, and neurologic care
  • No ECMO cases, but all other advanced NICU interventions are within scope
  • Previous Providence-affiliated permanent employees must be separated from the health system for a minimum of 3 months and reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify
  • Travelers are expected to float between facilities within the state, and refusal to float may impact assignment status
  • Minimal to no RTO accommodated for this position
