Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: 2 years of experience required License: Valid Compact License Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: - Previous charge experience - Ability to float to NICU or L&D - Weekend availability Description: This position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in a postpartum nursing role. Candidates must have experience with both vaginal and cesarean deliveries, tubal ligation, and circumcision. Experience with GYN surgeries, couplet care, low-risk antepartum, and transition nursery is essential. The nurse will manage blood and blood products administration, drains, epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and syringe pumps. Familiarity with wound vacs, heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate is required. Candidates should be skilled in OB-GYN care, post-operative care, and postpartum re-admittance. Knowledge of normal newborn care, including thermoregulation and glucose management, is necessary. Responsibilities include discharge teaching to parents, infant identification, and newborn assessments. The role requires proficiency in phototherapy, pain assessment and management, and use of PCA (IV). The nurse will also perform bladder assessments and Foley catheter insertions. Breastfeeding instructions, episiotomy/incision care, and fundus/lochia/perineum care are part of the duties. Experience with vaginal delivery, cesarean section, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy-induced hypertension is essential. Candidates must have the ability to float between facilities as needed. Refusal to float may result in termination of the assignment. Communication devices will be provided as required for the duties assigned.
