Description

American Traveler is hiring a Level IV NICU RN for a night shift position requiring at least 2 years of NICU experience including 1 year at Level IV, with WI or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in the NICU of a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center that includes a Level IV NICU
  • Care for neonates across a range of gestational ages, including those less than 24-28 weeks and 29-34 weeks
  • Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00pm-7:30am, Monday through Friday
  • Required to work 2-3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
  • Floating required as needed
  • Uses Epic charting system, experience required and preferably within the last 12 months
  • Manage post-op patients, g-tubes, and trach/vent care with various modes of invasive and noninvasive ventilation

Requirements

  • Active RN license (WI or Compact) required
  • Current certifications: BLS and NRP (AHA only) required, PALS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years total NICU experience required, with at least 1 full year in a Level IV NICU
  • Level III and Level IV experience may be combined to reach the 2-year total, but 1 year Level IV is mandatory
  • Epic EMR experience required, preferably within the last 12 months
  • Experience with post-op patient care, g-tube management, and trach/vent care required
  • Experience with various modes of invasive and noninvasive ventilation required
  • Prior travel nurse experience required, with at least one completed Level IV NICU assignment preferred
  • Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start, including adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation with strict passing criteria

Additional Information

  • Provide specialized neonatal intensive care within a Magnet-designated, nationally recognized pediatric medical and surgical center
  • Skills utilized may include IV therapy, UAC/UVC management, neonatal dosage calculations, ventilator management, and care for conditions such as NEC, gastroschisis, and neonatal sepsis
  • Support developmental care practices and patient/family teaching
  • Must reside within 50 miles of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • First-time travelers will be considered, with priority given to those who have completed at least one prior Level IV NICU assignment
  • Parking permit required through UW Transportation if parking onsite, with alternative transportation options available including bus and park & ride
