Description

American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Level IV NICU position requiring at least 2 years of NICU III/IV experience, including 1 year in a Level IV NICU.

Details

• Work in the NICU of a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU within a Magnet-designated children's hospital
• Care for neonates across gestational ranges, including those less than 24-28 weeks, 29-34 weeks, and greater than 34 weeks
• Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3
• Manage post-op patients, g-tubes, and trach/vent care using various modes of invasive and noninvasive ventilation
• Day (7:00am-7:30pm) and Night (7:00pm-7:30am) 12-hour shifts, 3 shifts per week
• Required to work 2-3 weekends per 6-week scheduling period
• Uses Epic charting system
• Floating required as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license (WI or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS and NRP (AHA only); PALS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of total NICU III/IV experience, with at least 1 full year in a Level IV NICU
• 2 years of acute care inpatient experience within the last 3 years in the specialty being applied to
• Epic charting experience required, preferably within the last 12 months
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start, including adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation with strict passing criteria
• Skills required include IV therapy, UAC/UVC management, medication administration including anti-seizure and antibiotic/antiviral medications, blood glucose monitoring, and phototherapy
• Experience with breastfeeding support/breast milk handling, feedings (bottle, breast, gavage), thermoregulation, and isolation precautions/PPE required
• Experience with dysrhythmia interpretation/management, oxygen delivery systems, suctioning (ETT, NT), tracheostomy care, and ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP) required
• Neonatal sepsis and sepsis work-up experience required

Additional Information

• Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill and premature neonates in a Level IV NICU setting
• At least one prior Level IV NICU travel assignment preferred; first-time travelers with Level IV NICU experience will be considered
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel pay rate; local candidates not accepted
• Additional preferred skills include arterial line management, central line care, insulin administration, therapeutic hypothermia, VP shunt management, high frequency ventilation, and nitric oxide therapy
• Additional preferred experience includes lumbar puncture assistance, ICP monitoring, NEC care, gastroschisis/omphalocele care, and post cardiac surgery care
