Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Level IV NICU position requiring at least 2 years of total NICU III/IV experience, including a minimum of 1 year in a Level IV NICU.

Details

  • Work in the NICU of a comprehensive pediatric medical and surgical center
  • Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU caring for neonates from across Wisconsin and beyond
  • Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3
  • Care for post-op patients, including those with g-tubes, trach/vent management, and various modes of invasive/noninvasive ventilation
  • Day and Night shifts available, 3x12 hours (7:00am-7:30pm or 7:00pm-7:30am)
  • Monday through Friday scheduling with 2-3 weekends required per 6-week scheduling period
  • Uses Epic charting system
  • Floating required as needed

Requirements

  • Active WI RN license or compact license required
  • Current certifications: BLS and NRP (AHA only); PALS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of total NICU III/IV experience required, with at least 1 full year in a Level IV NICU
  • Level III and Level IV experience may be combined to meet the 2-year total, but 1 year must be Level IV
  • Inpatient RN travelers must have 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty being applied to
  • Prior travel experience required, preferably including at least one completed Level IV NICU assignment
  • Epic experience required, preferably within the last 12 months
  • Experience with post-op patients, g-tubes, trach/vent management, and various modes of invasive/noninvasive ventilation required
  • Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start, meeting strict criteria for both adult and pediatric rhythm interpretation

Additional Information

  • Provide specialized nursing care for neonates in a Magnet-designated, nationally recognized pediatric facility
  • Skills utilized may include IV therapy, UAC/UVC management, ventilator management, neonatal dosage calculations, and care for conditions such as NEC, gastroschisis/omphalocele, and neonatal sepsis
  • Additional preferred skills include arterial line management, central line care, therapeutic hypothermia, high frequency ventilation, and post cardiac surgery care
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • First-time travelers with Level IV NICU experience will be considered
  • Parking permit required through UW Transportation if parking onsite; alternative transportation options such as bus and park & ride are available
