Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a NICU position requiring SC or compact license, at least 2 years of recent NICU experience, and 1 year of EPIC EMR experience.
Details
- NICU setting caring for neonates 22 weeks gestation and older with diagnoses including HIE, RDS, sepsis, congenital anomalies, and more "
- Night shift schedule with options for 4x12s (1900-0730) with no call, or 3x12s (1900-0730) with a bi-weekly 12-hour call shift
- Every other weekend coverage required unless staffing needs change
- Floating to other NICU units or facilities may be required based on census needs
- Uses Pyxis/Omnicell medication systems and EPIC for documentation
- Performs special procedures including full body cooling, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, and surgical anomaly repairs (excluding cardiac)
- Utilizes specialized equipment such as Artic Sun, jet and oscillator ventilators, HFNC, Bubble CPAP, dual incubators, and radiant warmers
Requirements
- Active SC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, NRP, and STABLE certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent NICU experience required
- Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Experience with 1:2 patient ratio
- Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, UAC/UVC care, and administration of blood products
- Proficient in neonatal respiratory support including ventilator management, HFNC, Bubble CPAP, and oscillators
- Experience with neonatal medication administration including vasopressors, antibiotics, and anti-seizure medications
- Skilled in NICU-specific care including thermoregulation, phototherapy, and management of NEC, gastroschisis, and VP shunts
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
Additional Information
- Provide comprehensive NICU nursing care to neonates with complex medical and surgical needs, including ventilator management, line care, and developmental support
- Assist with procedures such as lumbar punctures and manage therapeutic hypothermia for eligible infants
- Support patient and family education, including breastfeeding support and NICU-specific care needs
- Orientation occurs every Monday
- Pre-assignment testing and required modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
- Floating to other qualified units or campuses may be required based on facility census needs
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any facility within the health system to be eligible for this assignment
