Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 3 NICU position requiring NRP certification and prior NICU/Peds experience at a Level 2 trauma center.

Details

• Level 3 NICU with 26-30 beds in an acute care hospital setting
• 12-hour day shifts beginning at 0645 with bedside report
• Every other weekend required
• Self-scheduling available, finalized by manager, with schedules posted 4 weeks out
• Floating required to other Sacramento area facilities, with mid-shift float to another facility possible but rare
• Charge nurse available, generally does not take patients but provides break relief
• Nurse aides available based on census and staffing needs
• Hospitalist/Intensivist, RT, and Pharmacy available 24/7
• No dedicated IV team
• Ventilator management required
• EMR: Cerner
• Common diagnoses include respiratory failure and preterm infants
• No cardiac surgery or defect repair cases

Requirements

• Active CA RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA) and NRP certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of NICU experience required
• Peds experience preferred
• Must pass Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to offer confirmation
• Pass/fail sterile technique testing for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on first day of orientation
• Two supervisory references required, one within 12 months and one within 3 years of employment
• Copy of driver's license required at time of consideration to confirm legal name

• Provide direct care to neonatal patients in a Level 3 NICU setting
• Floor-specific orientation includes 1-2 days with a preceptor
• Facility is designated 'Baby Friendly' with strong breastfeeding support programs
• Scrub color is navy, with undershirts in navy, white, or black; navy scrub jackets optional
• Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's), with holiday time off considered but not guaranteed
• Candidates may not have been directly employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year, though PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
• Failing the Relias and/or sterile technique test twice results in a 6-month ineligibility status with CommonSpirit Sacramento region and Arizona facilities
