Position Overview:
 

W. W. Hastings Hospital is seeking an experienced Level 3 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse to provide exceptional critical care services to both adult and pediatric patients. This is a travel contract opportunity within the Cherokee Nation Health Services system, ideal for ICU nurses with strong pediatric experience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced critical care environment.
 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill adult and pediatric patients.
  • Perform ongoing patient assessments and implement individualized care plans.
  • Monitor hemodynamic status and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and critical care treatments safely.
  • Operate and monitor ICU equipment including cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and ventilators.
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Cerner EMR.
  • Utilize the Pyxis Automated Medication Dispensing System for safe medication administration.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and recovery expectations.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and patient safety protocols, including mandatory mask use within the ICU.

  • Patient Population: Adult & Pediatric Critical Care
  • Patient Acuity: Acutely ill patients with a wide variety of complex medical conditions
  • ICU Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:2:1
  • Step-Down Unit Ratio:3:1
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Medication Dispensing System: Pyxis
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue
  • Mask Required: Must wear a mask at all times while working in the ICU

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of ICU Registered Nurse experience
  • Pediatric ICU or Pediatric Critical Care experience is REQUIRED
  • Active Oklahoma RN License or Compact RN License
  • Current AHA BLS Certification
  • Current AHA ACLS Certification
  • Current AHA PALS Certification
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification required
  • Strong critical thinking, assessment, and emergency response skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience caring for both adult and pediatric ICU patients.
  • Proficiency with Cerner EMR.
  • Experience working in high-acuity critical care environments.
  • Familiarity with Pyxis medication dispensing systems.
