Endoscopy Registered Nurse (Endo RN)Shift Details
4x9-hour shifts per week (36 hours/week)
Scheduled Monday through Friday, between the hours of 6:30 AM and 4:30 PM
No weekends and no holidays, except when on call
Floating between facilities may be required
All contracts must run into February/March
Call Rotation
6–8 days of call per month
Call rotation includes two full weekends of call and one weekday per week
Required call days must include at minimum: 1 Friday, 1 Saturday, and 1 Sunday per month
1-hour on-call response time required
Shift Start Times
6:30 AM — Pre-Op Endo role
7:00 AM — Circulator/Tech Endo role
7:30 AM — Post-Op Endo role
Shift start time is dependent upon the assigned role for the day
Position Overview
The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients and families
Assesses patient need, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode
Develops specialized skill in the area of care for patients admitted for medical conditions
Provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with medical conditions
Accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing
Expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a Healing Environment
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Care & Assessment
Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care
Assesses patient and family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness, and analyzing data or information obtained through direct observation/assessment, technology, or health team communication
Creates a developmentally and age-appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care to address the nature and scope of identified health problems
In collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team members, sets goals and monitors the patient's progress
Adjusts the plan of care based on patient response or change in condition/reprioritization of needs
Demonstrates skill in the application of interventions, including medication administration
Advocacy & Teamwork
Promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient
Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to accomplish the best possible patient outcome
Teaches others as appropriate and delegates tasks and interventions consistent with the individual's education, training, and scope of practice
Understands the personal responsibility to safeguard public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies
Patient & Family Education
Motivates the patient and family by teaching them what is needed to continue care and healing at home
Assesses patient and family learning styles and structures sessions to maximize understanding
Seeks "teachable" moments during the care delivery process to emphasize pertinent information
Asks questions to evaluate retention of key points in the self-care process
Provides tools and information to assist the patient's family after discharge
Documents the education provided and the patient/family response to the education

Systematically evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice
Uses the results of quality improvement activities to initiate changes in individual nursing practice and care delivery
Engages in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths and areas in which professional development would be beneficial

Required Skills & Qualifications
NYS RN Licensure — minimum 1 year
Minimum one (1) year of experience serving in an Endoscopy environment as a Registered Nurse
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required
