This 13-week travel nursing contract offers an opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse to care for a complex cardiac patient population while working alongside an interdisciplinary clinical team.
Travel Nursing Job Details

- Shift Schedule: Day shift, 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m., or night shift, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; schedule may rotate based on operational needs
- Orientation: 16 hours
- Weekend and Holiday Coverage: Travelers must work at least every other holiday; weekend requirements will be discussed during the interview
Cardiac Stepdown Travel RN Requirements
- Registered Nurse with at least 1 year of recent permanent experience in cardiac stepdown or a closely related specialty
- Permanent Ohio Registered Nurse license or compact-state license in hand at the time of submission
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Active National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Ability to provide a recent professional reference from a manager, assistant nurse manager, supervisor, or director in the specialty
- Successful completion of required background, screening, and onboarding requirements
- Successful completion of ECG rhythm recognition and medication-safety assessments during orientation
- Adaptability to float to other units caring for a similar patient population when needed
Cardiac Stepdown RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures in a stepdown setting
- Monitor cardiac rhythms, hemodynamic status, neurological condition, and other changes in patient status
- Administer medications and treatments safely while following evidence-based clinical standards
- Recognize and promptly respond to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns to the appropriate members of the care team
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate individualized care
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, recovery, medications, and discharge needs
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans in the electronic medical record
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and patient-centered environment while contributing to efficient unit operations
