Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (06:45 - 19:15) Experience: Minimum 2 years in Critical Care License: Active Nursing License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - CVICU experience or open heart experience - Experience in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias - Proficiency with ECMO and Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) - Experience in Post Cardiac Surgery care - Familiarity with Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring - Knowledge of Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) - Experience with Ventricular Assist Devices (LVAD/RVAD) - Proficiency in arterial line management - Experience in blood product administration - Proficiency in central line care and management - Ability to administer continuous IV sedation - Skill in titrating cardiac drips - Experience in care of ventilated patients - Ability to interpret Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs) - Knowledge of isolation precautions and personal protective equipment (PPE) Description: Minimum years of experience required is 2 years of Critical Care experience. Travelers with no prior travel experience will not be accepted. Local candidates are accepted at the same rate for this position. Candidates must have CVICU or open heart experience. The job involves interpreting and managing dysrhythmias. A solid foundation in ECMO and Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump management is essential. Care of patients post cardiac surgery directly from the operating room is required. Candidates will monitor Pulmonary Artery Lines and perform Swan Ganz monitoring. Experience in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement procedures is needed. Familiarity with Ventricular Assist Devices is necessary. Candidates will manage arterial lines and administer blood products. Care and management of central lines is part of the role. Continuous IV sedation administration is expected. The role includes titrating cardiac drips. Candidates should have experience caring for ventilated patients. Interpretation of Arterial Blood Gases is required. Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE is necessary. Preferred skills include accessing and managing ports. Candidates should also be proficient in titrating vasoactive drips. Assisting with chest tube insertion and removal is part of the responsibilities. Management and maintenance of BiPAP/CPAP, as well as High Flow Nasal Cannula, is required. Ventilator management experience is essential. Patient diagnoses include those recovering from open heart surgery, thoracotomies, esophagogastrectomies, and TAVR. The unit supports special procedures including CRRT, Impella, and IABP. Work schedules will require every other weekend. Candidates will be required to float within the facility as needed. The expected patient ratio for day shifts is 1:1. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced and critical environment.
