The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. The RN performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. They implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. The RN maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. They complete initial assessments upon patient admission and develop appropriate plans of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. They modify the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. They communicate with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base. They identify their own learning needs and take initiative to begin appropriate solutions. The RN fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Department specific job functions include providing direct care of CVICU patients (Post-op day CABG, vascular and ICU status patients). The RN maintains a clean and tidy work environment. They maintain hospital and unit based competencies. Hourly rounding on patients is required. The RN proactively seeks out opportunities to assist internal and external customers.
