Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, every other weekend, 3 UT maximum allowed, weekend make-up policy
Charting System: Epic
Float Required: Yes – must float across all ICUs (SICU/NSICU, MICU, CCU, CVICU/CPS/VICU, PCCU), PACU, ED (ICU holds), and neuro-progressive unit
Note: Must have Level I trauma ICU experience; must be flexible to rotate between ICUs within shift.

Position Overview:
Travel RN – Critical Care Float Pool responsible for delivering high-acuity ICU nursing care across multiple critical care units in a Level I academic trauma center, managing complex, unstable, and multi-system critically ill patients in varied ICU environments.

Job duties:
Provide direct critical care nursing to ICU patients across multiple specialties including neuro, trauma, medical, surgical, cardiac, and vascular ICUs. Manage ventilated and hemodynamically unstable patients. Operate and monitor advanced critical care equipment such as CRRT, IABP, Impella, ECMO, ICP monitoring systems, EVDs, arterial/central lines, and vasoactive drips. Perform comprehensive assessments, titrate critical medications, respond to rapid clinical changes, and coordinate multidisciplinary care. Float between ICU units as needed, including PACU and ED ICU holds, ensuring safe continuity of care in high-acuity environments.

Requirements:
Licensure: Active RN license
Experience: Minimum 2 years ICU experience (excluding travel) in Level I trauma center.
Certifications: BLS, ACLS (CCRN strongly encouraged)
Other requirement: Must pass competency test within 24 hours of submission; strong adaptability across ICU specialties; experience with complex critical care equipment required; supervisor reference required

Unit Details:
Unit: Critical Care Float Pool (ICUs: SICU/NSICU, MICU, CCU, CVICU/CPS/VICU, PCCU)
Patient Ratios: ICU standard ratios (typically 1:1–1:2 depending on acuity)
Patient Population: Critically ill adult ICU patients including trauma, neuro, post-op surgical, medical critical care, cardiac ICU (STEMI, NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock), post-cardiac surgery, and ECMO patients
Patient Diagnoses: Multi-system organ failure, trauma, neuro injury, post-operative critical care, cardiac emergencies, sepsis, respiratory failure
Number of Beds: ~100 ICU beds across 5 critical care units
