Job Summary
The ICU Cardiovascular (Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular) nurse position is located in Largo, Maryland. This role involves providing specialized critical care for adult cardiac surgery patients, including those post-operative for procedures such as CABG, valve repair/replacement, and related vascular and thoracic surgeries. The position emphasizes extensive experience in cardiovascular intensive care within a hospital setting and requires the ability to manage complex patient diagnoses and clinical interventions.
Job Details
- Schedule: Dayshift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting on 08/24/2026
- Required Qualifications: Maryland RN license, ACLS, BLS certifications, minimum 1 year of clinical experience in a cardiovascular intensive care environment, ability to perform arterial line management, chest tube insertion/removal, ventilator management, and other specialized skills
- Certifications: ACLS and BLS required; CPI certification preferred, with certification obtained through an approved online vendor
- Additional Qualifications: Experience with arterial line management, chest tube management, ventilator management, and cardiovascular critical care equipment is essential; previous ICU charge nurse experience is preferred but not mandatory
- Patient Care & Unit Details: Focus on immediate post-operative cardiovascular surgical patients with diagnoses including CABG, valve surgeries, and vascular procedures. Protocols include management of ventilated patients, invasive lines, and hemodynamic monitoring. Staff support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and interpretation services
- Float Requirements: Flexibility to float within scope, including sister units and lower acuity areas, is required
- Scheduling & Policies: No local restrictions; maximum 7 days RTO policy; travel experience required; candidates must be comfortable working 12-hour shifts and floating within scope
- Onboarding & Compliance: Labs within 72 hours of signing; compliance documents due 5 days prior to start date; modules are non-billable and included in onboarding process
