Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team. This position involves providing care in an overflow unit focusing on both general surgery and medical telemetry patients. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in medical-surgical nursing with experience in telemetry.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients, ensuring compliance with established protocols and best practices.
• Monitor patient telemetry and report any changes in condition to the appropriate medical team.
• Initiate and manage intravenous (IV) access as required for patient care.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Participate in patient education and support, addressing any questions or concerns.
• Maintain accurate patient records using EPIC and SBAR documentation systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience.
• Acceptance of first-time travelers.
• Current certifications in ACLS and BCLS; NIH certification preferred.
• Proficient in starting IVs and monitoring telemetry.
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start in this specialty.

Shift and Scheduling

This position requires working three 12-hour night shifts per week (18:45 - 07:15). Flexibility to float to similar units as needed may be required, including the potential for floating to observation units.

Unit Details

The unit maintains a patient ratio of approximately 1:6-7. The daily census is approximately 18 patients, primarily focusing on cases involving medical intervention or surgical procedures.

Orientation

Successful candidates will participate in a 24-hour orientation program to acclimate to unit operations and protocols.

Attire

Scrubs must be navy blue.
