Job Description:

To coordinate and implement an individualized plan of care for each patient using the nursing process, practicing within their scope, standards, policies, values, and mission of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources.
  • Requires prioritization and critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comply with triage, treatment, evaluation, and documentation guidelines.
  • Use evidence-based practices and competence to collaborate with the healthcare team to provide quality outcomes and coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Identify barriers to effective communication based on psychosocial, literacy, financial, and cultural considerations.
  • Evaluate learning needs of patient and/or family and provide patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstance.
  • Effectively delegate patient care to ancillary personnel; may precept student nurses and new hires.
  • Practice according to professional and ethical standards as noted in the ANA Code of Ethics and Colorado State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must successfully pass a background check.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
  • Must complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.
  • Current and active Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or be obtained within ninety (90) days of hire).
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (or be obtained within six (6) months of hire).
  • Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification (or be obtained within one (1) year of hire).
  • Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification (or be obtained within one (1) year of hire).
  • Current STABLE certification (or be obtained within one (1) year of hire).
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (or be obtained within one (1) year of hire).
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Two (2) years hospital nursing experience required.
  • One (1) year Emergency Department (ED) or Critical Care Nursing experience preferred.
