Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,910–$2,010
- Location: Portsmouth, Virginia

Emergency Department RN Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or a compact-eligible state
- At least 2 years of professional RN experience
- Recent Emergency Department or critical care nursing experience strongly preferred
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred
- ACLS, CPI, and PALS certifications required
- BLS certification from an approved provider required before providing direct patient care
- Ability to successfully complete a dysrhythmia examination during orientation
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and emergency response skills
- Ability to care for neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults
- Comfort managing high-acuity patients, multiple comorbidities, invasive lines, respiratory support, and critical care infusions
- Ability to work effectively in a high-stress environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
Emergency Nursing Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care, including triage, assessment, stabilization, treatment, reassessment, and disposition support.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care using the nursing process.
- Administer medications and treatments safely in accordance with professional standards, clinical policies, and applicable regulations.
- Recognize and respond rapidly to life-threatening conditions, trauma, medical emergencies, behavioral health needs, and crisis situations.
- Care for patients requiring critical care infusions, including Cardene, Levophed, insulin, dopamine, epinephrine, heparin, milrinone, and dobutamine.
- Manage patients with oxygen and respiratory support needs, including nasal cannula, Venti mask, high-flow oxygen, non-rebreather mask, and ventilators.
- Monitor and care for patients with central access, PICC lines, ports, intraosseous access, chest tubes, drains, feeding tubes, ostomies, and other specialized devices.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, EMS, specialty teams, support services, and outside agencies to coordinate timely patient care.
- Prioritize care for multiple patients while maintaining safety, privacy, infection prevention, and accurate clinical documentation.
- Educate patients and support persons, provide emotional support, and promote a compassionate, relationship-centered care experience.
- Participate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, staff education, and effective use of department resources.
