Key Responsibilities of the RN - ED Emergency Department

• Connect with patients and families during triage, ensuring priority of care is in accordance with Triage Standards.
• Conduct thorough assessments, document deviations from norms, and identify necessary interventions using direct observation and interviews.
• Build mutual trust and cooperation among team members for optimal patient outcomes.
• Teach and delegate tasks consistent with education, training, and scope of practice.
• Prepare patients and families for diagnostic procedures, provide post-care referrals, and ensure understanding of home care instructions.
• Maintain communication with patients and significant others, updating them on care processes.

Requirements of the RN - ED Emergency Department

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only)
• Two years of experience in an ED acute hospital setting as a registered professional nurse
