Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery & Postpartum
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team at a Critical Access Hospital in Viroqua, Wisconsin. This role offers a unique opportunity to provide comprehensive care across the perinatal spectrum within a close-knit community setting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality nursing care to expectant mothers during labor and delivery, as well as to new mothers and their newborns during the postpartum period. This includes managing patient care, monitoring maternal and fetal well-being, assisting with deliveries, and providing essential mother-baby care and education.
Key Responsibilities
Provide skilled nursing care to laboring, delivering, and postpartum patients.
Monitor maternal and fetal status, interpreting fetal heart tracings and assessing labor progression.
Assist physicians and other healthcare professionals during labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum procedures.
Perform comprehensive postpartum assessments of mothers, including vital signs, fundal checks, and pain management.
Conduct thorough newborn assessments, provide routine infant care, and monitor for any signs of distress.
Educate new mothers and families on newborn care, feeding techniques (breastfeeding and bottle-feeding), postpartum recovery, and discharge instructions.
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and accurate documentation.
Maintain accurate and timely electronic health records for all patients.
Collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Experience in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Mother/Baby care.
