Oncology Registered Nurse Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Oncology Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract assignment at the Northside Forsyth Cancer Center in Cumming, Georgia. This role is crucial in providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cancer treatment within a comprehensive cancer center environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for administering chemotherapy and other oncology-specific treatments, monitoring patient responses, and providing essential education and support to patients and their families throughout their treatment journey. This position requires a compassionate professional committed to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced oncology setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other oncology-specific medications and treatments according to established protocols and physician orders.
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions, complications, and side effects during and after treatment, implementing appropriate interventions as needed.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, psychological, and social needs, and document findings accurately.
  • Provide extensive patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment plans, medication management, symptom control, and supportive care.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, pharmacists, social workers, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.
  • Manage central venous access devices (CVADs) and other specialized equipment used in oncology care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records, ensuring all patient interactions and care provided are thoroughly documented.
  • Ensure a safe, therapeutic, and supportive environment for oncology patients.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an oncology specialty setting.
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Georgia or a compact state license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification.
  • Current Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card or equivalent certification.
