Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Day, Evening Hours per Shift: 11 AM - 11 PM Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: WA or Compact License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS or ENPC Must-Have: - Experience in a larger trauma setting may be accepted with 1 year of travel experience. Description: - The unit has 56 beds and can accommodate 60-70 patients, including hall beds. - The fast track area consists of 6 beds. - A separate triage area is available with 5 beds; travelers may take a triage test and may be assigned accordingly. - There is a separate holding area within the Emergency Room with 18 designated beds for inpatients awaiting placement. - Emergency Room nurses manage their own ER holds; inpatient nurses may float to assist when needed. - Separate psychiatric seclusion rooms include a locked hall with 6 private treatment rooms. - In-house security is present. - The department sees approximately 170-200 patients per day. - The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 for general cases, increasing to 1:4 for low acuity cases. - Required certifications include ACLS, BLS, TNCC, PALS, or ENPC. - Common diagnoses include cardiac, stroke, sepsis, DKA, altered mental status, respiratory issues, and abdominal pain. - The department employs both charge nurses and house supervisors. - Support staff includes ED Techs and CNAs to provide 1:1 sitter assignments as necessary. - Emergency Room Technicians perform EKGs, while respiratory therapists manage equipment such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP. - The radiology department is adjacent to the Emergency Room to facilitate patient transport. - Blood draws are primarily performed by nurses or ED Techs, with lab support when necessary. - Weekend requirements are every other weekend. - There may be a requirement to work holidays during November and December. - There are no call or standby requirements; however, extra shifts are available. - Professional attire is expected in the unit for all staff. - There is a one-day compliance orientation followed by a department-specific orientation. - There is a cancellation policy allowing for the potential cancellation of shifts.
