Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: RN License required Certifications: ACLS BLS TNCC PALS or ENPC Must-Have Skills: Experience in larger trauma settings accepted Description: Registered Nurses will work in a busy emergency room environment. The unit has 56 beds, with the potential for additional space. Patient volume is approximately 170-200 per day. The nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:3, and may extend to 1:4 for lower acuity patients. Travelers can take a triage test and may be assigned to triage if necessary. In-house security is available to ensure patient and staff safety. The emergency room includes designated areas for inpatient holds and psychiatric treatment. Nurses manage their own ER holds, with support from inpatient RNs as needed. Common patient diagnoses include cardiac issues, strokes, sepsis, DKA, AMS, respiratory problems, and mental health concerns. Nurses will utilize EMR systems for documentation. There are opportunities for extra shifts available, but they are not mandatory. Weekend shifts are required every other week. Travelers must work holidays during peak months, with flexibility considered for scheduling. Professional attire is required in the unit.
