Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department Profession: RN Specialty: RN - ER Duration: 8 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Preferred experience in acute care facility License: Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice Certifications: - Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQI BLS) certification: Required - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS OR HS-ACLS OR RQI ACLS) certification: Required - AHA-PALS: Required - Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC): Required Must-Have: EPIC experience Description: Registered professional nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated shift. Prescribes nursing care based on the nursing process that is consistent with the medical plan of care. Collaborates with physicians and other members of the healthcare team and coordinates the delivery of patient care. Incorporates teaching and discharge planning needs into the overall plan of care. Delegates aspects of patient care delivery to other nursing staff based on their current clinical competence. Utilizes the nursing process to assess patients, design and implement an individualized plan of care, and evaluate its effectiveness. Modifies the care plan as necessary based on patient needs. Considers age-specific, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients. Applies knowledge of illnesses, injuries, diseases, and developmental stages to patient care. Utilizes knowledge of pharmacology when preparing and administering medications and IV therapy. Provides patient and family education to promote compliance and address patient needs. Responds to emergency patient situations or internal/external disasters according to established protocols. Oversees the delivery of patient care and corrects errors to ensure patient safety and wellbeing. Reports observations, reactions, and problems regarding patients in a timely manner. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for problem-solving and clinical decision-making. Ensures continuity of care by processing and following through on physician's orders. Sets appropriate priorities in providing patient care and responds to changes in workload. Acts as the patient's advocate, ensuring patient rights are preserved. Demonstrates knowledge of job descriptions and delegates appropriately. Practices nursing according to the applicable Nurse Practice Act. Maintains awareness of professional responsibilities and legal scope of practice. Utilizes communication skills to ensure effective communication with patients, families, staff, and physicians. Documents assessments, nursing interventions, and care provided to assigned patients. Performs technical aspects of patient care according to established policies and procedures. Prepares and administers medications and IVs with consideration of age-specific needs. Performs emergency procedures and assesses patient responses. Demonstrates safe use of equipment in patient care. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
