Location: Redding, CA
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift
Schedule: 3×12
Experience Required: 2 Years
Weekly Pay: $2,550 to $2,750

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (ER) to join a healthcare team in Redding, California, for a 13-week contract assignment.

The ideal candidate is a confident emergency care professional who can assess patients quickly, prioritize care effectively, respond to changing conditions, and provide safe, high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced environment.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
  • Perform rapid and comprehensive patient assessments and identify urgent clinical needs.
  • Prioritize patients based on acuity and changing clinical conditions.
  • Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygen saturation, neurological status, and other clinical indicators.
  • Administer medications, IV fluids, blood products, and treatments according to provider orders and facility protocols.
  • Initiate and maintain IV access and perform nursing procedures within scope of practice.
  • Recognize signs of patient deterioration and respond promptly with appropriate interventions.
  • Assist with emergency procedures, resuscitation, and rapid response activities.
  • Support care for patients experiencing trauma, cardiac emergencies, respiratory conditions, infections, neurological emergencies, and other acute conditions.
  • Assist physicians and other providers with procedures and treatments.
  • Collect specimens and perform or assist with diagnostic testing as assigned.
  • Provide wound care, dressing changes, splinting assistance, and other emergency interventions as required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, technicians, EMS personnel, patients, and families.
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatments, medications, follow-up care, and discharge instructions.
  • Assist with patient transfers, admissions, discharges, and coordination with other departments.
  • Maintain infection prevention, medication safety, fall prevention, and patient safety standards.
  • Protect patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
  • Follow facility policies, emergency department protocols, and applicable nursing standards.
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in California.
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department or ER nursing experience.
  • Strong emergency assessment, clinical judgment, and prioritization skills.
  • Experience with IV therapy, medication administration, and acute patient care.
  • Ability to respond effectively to rapidly changing patient conditions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and organized in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records.
  • Ability to work night shift on a 3×12 schedule.
  • Required certifications should meet applicable facility requirements.
