Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a high-volume Emergency Department with a 4:1 patient ratio, with flexibility during acute surge periods
Perform and assist with procedures including trauma care, stroke care, laceration repair, orthopedic trauma, ultrasound-guided IV insertion, IO insertion, EKG, eye exams, and psychiatric and cardiopulmonary care
Utilize protocol-based written orders to initiate complete patient workups including labs, EKG, x-rays, and medications based on chief complaint
Operate department equipment including ultrasound for IV access, Lucas Device, Hotline Rapid Infuser, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems
Document patient care accurately using the Sunrise/Allscripts EMR system
Rotate every other weekend as required per contract labor scheduling guidelines
Required Qualifications
Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license required at time of submission
Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department experience in a hospital setting
Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and TNCC certifications required
Strong assessment, critical thinking, and clinical communication skills
Demonstrated adaptability, dependability, and punctuality in a fast-paced environment
Solid understanding of medical terminology
Preferred Experience / Skills
MOAB certification is a plus
Strong proficiency in EKG interpretation
Experience caring for complex patient populations including cardiac, DKA, sepsis, trauma, and stroke patients
