Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Travel ICU Registered Nurse to provide specialized nursing care to critically ill and medically complex patients. The ICU RN will monitor patients closely, administer advanced treatments, respond to changes in condition, and collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary critical-care team.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive assessments of critically ill patients.
Continuously monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, oxygenation, neurological status, and hemodynamics.
Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other treatments.
Manage and monitor central lines, arterial lines, drains, chest tubes, and other critical-care equipment.
Care for patients receiving mechanical ventilation and other respiratory support.
Recognize and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition.
Assist with emergency procedures, rapid responses, and resuscitation.
Monitor patients receiving vasoactive medications and titrate medications according to facility protocols/orders.
Collaborate with intensivists, physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
Provide patient and family education and emotional support.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
Follow infection-control, patient-safety, and critical-care protocols.
Participate in handoffs and multidisciplinary rounds.
Common ICU Patient Population
Depending on the facility, ICU RNs may care for patients with:
Sepsis and septic shock
Respiratory failure
Cardiac conditions and dysrhythmias
Acute kidney injury
Neurological emergencies
Trauma
Post-operative complications
Multi-system organ failure
Hemodynamic instability
Patients requiring mechanical ventilation
Requirements
Active RN license in the state of assignment.
Recent ICU/Critical Care nursing experience.
Current BLS certification.
ACLS certification required.
Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation skills.
Experience with ventilators, IV infusions, central lines, and critical-care monitoring.
Strong assessment and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-acuity situations.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Additional certifications such as PALS, CCRN, or TNCC may be required depending on the facility.
Trexoros Health Job ID #1273. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
