Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: ICU Duration: 10 weeks minimum Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1-2 years minimum; first-timers accepted. License: NM license may pend at the time of submission. Certifications: BLS and ACLS required; NIH and TNCC preferred. Must-Have: Must work 2 out of 3 holiday bundles (Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, New Year's Eve & New Year's Day). Description: The ICU typically has a mix of ICU, sub-acute, and floor status patients. Patient to nurse ratio is 1:2. The unit also manages multi-system organ failure, sepsis, and respiratory failure cases. Experience with ventilator management is required; please screen if experience is limited. Special procedures include chest tube insertion, intubations, and CRRT. Occasional floating to other inpatient units is required. Weekend requirement is every other weekend; a minimum of 13 shifts is needed. Prompt and accurate interpretation of dysrhythmias is essential. IV insulin protocols, procedural sedation administration, and blood product administration are part of the duties. Experience in managing complex patient situations such as diabetic ketoacidosis and ETOH withdrawal is vital. Expected competencies also include starting IVs, phlebotomy, and surgical wound management. Candidates must be able to assist with management of BiPAP/CPAP and ventilator management. The ICU utilizes advanced monitoring systems and equipment. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams is emphasized for optimal patient care. Surgical intensive care, high-flow nasal cannula use, and post-operative care are routine in this role. Effective communication and teamwork are essential for success in this position. Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment are required for all staff members.
