Key Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse - Critical Care

Obtain and record initial assessments and establish priorities based on patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
Re-assess patients systematically to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
Develop and implement a measurable individualized plan of care within the time frame established by Nursing Standards of Care.
Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes, modifying the plan of care as necessary.
Participate in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning.
Implement and document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
Evaluate the plan of care and perform various Point of Care testing procedures.
Utilize effective communication strategies to ensure intended outcomes.
Delegate unit work assignments appropriately to ensure completion of required patient care support activities.

Requirements of the Registered Nurse - Critical Care

Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license
Current BLS Certification from AHA required
Current ACLS Certification from AHA required
Current TNCC Certification required
Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing
