Key Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse - Critical Care
  • Obtain and record initial assessments and establish priorities based on patient age, symptoms, and psychosocial needs.
  • Re-assess patients systematically to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
  • Develop and implement a measurable individualized plan of care within the time frame established by Nursing Standards of Care.
  • Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on the interpretation of facts and evaluations of patient outcomes, modifying the plan of care as necessary.
  • Participate in patient/significant other health education and discharge planning.
  • Implement and document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
  • Evaluate the plan of care and perform various Point of Care testing procedures.
  • Utilize effective communication strategies to ensure intended outcomes.
  • Delegate unit work assignments appropriately to ensure completion of required patient care support activities.

Requirements of the Registered Nurse - Critical Care
  • Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license
  • Current BLS Certification from AHA required
  • Current ACLS Certification from AHA required
  • Current TNCC Certification required
  • Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing
