Key Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse - Critical Care
  • Obtain and record initial assessments and establish priorities according to patient needs.
  • Re-assess patients systematically to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
  • Develop and implement a measurable individualized care plan within established time frames.
  • Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on fact interpretation and patient outcome evaluation.
  • Participate in patient and significant other health education and discharge planning.
  • Implement and document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
  • Evaluate plans of care and perform various Point of Care testing procedures.
  • Utilize effective communication strategies and delegate unit work assignments appropriately.
  • Coordinate team assignments and make necessary adjustments based on patient and unit needs.
  • Participate in orientation of new staff/students on the unit.
  • Promote a positive work environment through professional, supportive attitudes.
  • Collaborate with others to achieve unit and organizational goals.

Requirements of the Registered Nurse - Critical Care
  • Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing
  • Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and TNCC Certifications required
  • Current knowledge and skills appropriate to age/type of patient population served
  • Effective communication and human relations skills
