Key Responsibilities of the Registered Nurse - Critical Care

Obtain and record initial assessments and establish priorities according to patient needs.
Re-assess patients systematically to identify progress and trends requiring intervention.
Develop and implement a measurable individualized care plan within established time frames.
Make comprehensive nursing decisions based on fact interpretation and patient outcome evaluation.
Participate in patient and significant other health education and discharge planning.
Implement and document timely interventions appropriate to patient needs.
Evaluate plans of care and perform various Point of Care testing procedures.
Utilize effective communication strategies and delegate unit work assignments appropriately.
Coordinate team assignments and make necessary adjustments based on patient and unit needs.
Participate in orientation of new staff/students on the unit.
Promote a positive work environment through professional, supportive attitudes.
Collaborate with others to achieve unit and organizational goals.

Requirements of the Registered Nurse - Critical Care

Graduate of an accredited program for Registered Nursing
Current New Mexico RN license or current Compact state license
Current BLS, ACLS, and TNCC Certifications required
Current knowledge and skills appropriate to age/type of patient population served
Effective communication and human relations skills
