Travel Nurse RN - Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care - $2,765 per week in Houston, TX

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Duration: 6 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 48 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Valid Nursing License Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - 3+ years of experience in a busy hospital setting - Previous travel experience - Familiarity with managing ventilators, pressors, and hemodynamics - Competency in suctioning and emergency interventions Description: Daily parking fees apply for employees. RNs are required to be open to floating to similar units. Candidates must be flexible with scheduling; self-scheduling is not available. Every other weekend shift is required. EPIC documentation experience is mandatory. Successful placements typically have experience managing complex cardiology patients such as those with heart failure, STEMI, pulmonary embolism, and arrhythmias. Nurse-to-patient ratios are usually 1:2, occasionally 1:1. RNs are required to titrate drips, including epinephrine, norepinephrine, vasopressin, dobutamine, milrinone, amiodarone, and cardene. A charge nurse is present on each shift, though they may not always be free from patient assignments. Patient care assistant support is minimal and may only be available for 18 beds. Clientist and intensivist coverage is present 24/7 in the ICU. Respiratory therapy is also available 24/7. RNs must be capable of troubleshooting ventilators and intervening during emergencies. RNs are responsible for interpreting cardiac strips with HP monitors in use. Every effort will be made to accommodate schedule requests while meeting unit needs. Weekend requirements may include occasional exceptions based on staffing needs. Holiday coverage is expected, particularly on days before and after holidays. There is no call or standby requirement. RNs are required to wear teal tops and bottoms, with coordinated non-terrycloth jackets. Two 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation will be provided. Cancellation policy outlines that 4 shifts are required for assignments of 13 weeks or longer.
