Travel Nurse RN - Intensive Care Unit (ICU) / Critical Care - $2,103 per week in Houston, TX

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Duration: 6 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Experience with ventilators, managing pressors, and hemodynamics (PAC, CVP, arterial lines). - Experience with sheaths, IABP, Impella, CRRT, and occasionally paralyzing and sedating patients. - Capability to troubleshoot ventilators and effectively respond to emergency situations. - Ability to interpret cardiac strips. Description: Daily parking is available. Candidates must be open to floating to similar units. The unit is busy and serves as a Level 1 Trauma facility. Flexibility in scheduling is required, as self-scheduling is not available. Every other weekend work is required. Successful candidates typically have 3 or more years of experience, previous travel experience, and have worked in a high-volume hospital. The unit has 18 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2, occasionally 1:1. Patient care assistant support is minimal, with one assistant for all 18 beds if available. They assist with blood sugars, patient hygiene, turning, phone management, and supplies. In-house hospitalists and intensivists are available 24/7. Respiratory therapy is also present in the ICU 24/7. Registered nurses are required to troubleshoot ventilators and suction competently. Registered nurses interpret their own cardiac strips using HP monitors. Every other weekend shifts are the standard, with occasional exceptions based on staffing needs. Holidays are typically covered, but working days before and after may be required. There is no call or standby requirement. The dress code includes teal tops and bottoms, with solid or coordinated non-terrycloth jackets. Unit-specific orientation includes two 12-hour shifts.
