Job Title: Registered Nurse - Critical Care Profession: RN Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 hours Experience: One year recent acute care RN experience in an operating room required License: Current RN license in state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire Must-Have: Graduate of a school of nursing required Description: This position performs the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The role involves coordinating, managing, providing, and delegating patient care. The Registered Nurse is responsible for meeting established Standards of Nursing Practice and promoting cooperation among the healthcare team. Essential functions include: Assuring patients' personal needs are met. Assisting in reducing the noise level of the nursing unit. Demonstrating commitment to co-workers. Working as a team to ensure all patients have their needs met. Maintaining patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy. Ensuring documentation is clear, concise, and legible. Delivering a clear, concise report. Completing all assigned quality monitors as directed by the department manager. Following infection control guidelines. Obtaining history and physical assessments according to unit-specific nursing protocols for all age groups. Reviewing medical histories, physical examinations, and all available assessment data. Identifying abnormal diagnostic data and reporting to the appropriate person. Providing essential information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner. Recognizing signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress or other impending emergencies. Demonstrating knowledge and ability to effectively function in Code Blue and other emergency situations. Administering and charting medications according to hospital policies and procedures while using the patient's six rights. Implementing and assisting others in the implementation and documentation of planned education. Assessing patients' educational needs. Assisting in the development and education of new staff members. Attending and participating in staff meetings. Completing education, training, and competencies for department-specific skills. Successfully adapting to changes in the unit, environment, and workflow. Ensuring all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly. Utilizing department resources appropriately.
