Description:
Perform professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients.
Coordinate, manage, provide, and delegate patient care.
Responsible for meeting established Standards of Nursing Practice and promoting cooperation among the healthcare team.
Assure patients' personal needs are met.
Assist in reducing noise level in the nursing unit.
Show commitment to coworkers and work as a team to assure all patients have their needs met.
Maintain patient, coworker, and hospital privacy.
Document clearly, concisely, and legibly.
Deliver clear, concise reports.
Complete all assigned quality monitors as directed by department manager.
Follow infection control guidelines.
Obtain history and physical assessment according to unit-specific nursing protocol for all age groups.
Review medical history, physical examination, and all available assessment data.
Identify abnormal diagnostic data and report to the appropriate person.
Provide information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner to the appropriate personnel.
Recognize signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress, or other impending emergencies.
Demonstrate knowledge and ability to effectively function in emergency situations.
Accurately administer and chart medications according to hospital policies and procedures while using patients' six rights.
Implement and/or assist others in implementation and documentation of planned education.
Assess patients' educational needs.
Assist in the development and education of new staff members.
Attend and participate in staff meetings.
Complete education, training, and competencies for department-specific skills.
Successfully adapt to changes in the unit, environment, and workflow.
Ensure all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly.
Utilize department resources appropriately.
Minimize incidental overtime.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
