Job Title: Registered Nurse - Critical Care Profession: RN Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: One year recent acute care RN experience in an operating room required License: Current RN license in state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire or transfer Must-Have: - Graduate of a school of nursing - Commitment to teamwork and cooperation Description: This position performs the professional functions of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. Coordinates, manages, provides, and delegates patient care. Meets established Standards of Nursing Practice. Promotes cooperation among the healthcare team. Assures patients' personal needs are met. Assists in reducing noise levels. Demonstrates commitment to coworkers. Maintains patient, coworker, and hospital privacy. Documentation is clear, concise, and legible. Delivers a clear, concise report. Completes assigned quality monitors as directed by department manager. Follows infection control guidelines. Obtains history/physical assessment according to unit-specific nursing protocol for all age groups. Reviews medical history, physical examination, and all available assessment data. Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports to appropriate personnel. Provides information needed to begin discharge planning in a timely manner. Recognizes signs and symptoms of cardiac or respiratory distress or other impending emergencies. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to function effectively in Code Blue and other emergency situations. Administers and charts medications according to hospital policies and procedures. Implements and/or assists with the implementation and documentation of planned education. Assesses patients' educational needs. Assists in the development and education of new staff members. Attends and participates in staff meetings. Completes education, training, and competencies for department-specific skills. Successfully adapts to changes in the unit, environment, and workflow. Assures patient charge items are documented correctly. Utilizes department resources appropriately. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
