Description:
The Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit plans, coordinates, and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served.
He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner, consistent with the unit’s standard of care.
He/she demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization.
The position requires flexibility to changing systems and a commitment to quality and effectiveness in work habits and clinical practice.
He/she treats staff, physicians, patients, and families with consideration and respect.
The Registered Nurse will adhere to organizational requirements, ensuring compliance with safety and well-being protocols.
He/she must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care/service appropriate to the age of the patients served.
The role includes performing comprehensive nursing assessments, monitoring hemodynamic status, and modifying care plans based on evaluations.
Collaboration with others to achieve unit and organizational goals is essential.
The Registered Nurse participates in initiatives to improve organizational performance and is receptive and responsive to new ideas.
Clinical competency requirements specific to the Intensive Care Unit are mandatory.
The position requires ability to demonstrate quality care across various patient age groups, including pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
The Registered Nurse must comply with confidentiality regulations and demonstrate the physical demands necessary for patient care.
Flexibility in schedule, including the potential for occasional floating to other units, may be required.
The Registered Nurse is expected to maintain and meet all competency, licensing, and certification expectations.
This role includes responsibilities for reassessments per policy and participation in unit and service projects.
