Unit ICU - ICU/Trauma ICU
# Beds: 30 beds
Ratios: 1 to 1-2, 90% of the time will be 1 to 2 ratio
Required Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?) BLS & ACLS are required.
Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Trauma - travelers must have this experience, neuro-strokes, head injuries, ventriculostomies, ICP monitoring - candidates
MUST have experience with ICP monitoring and ventrics if they do not have this experience then they MUST have experience with post-TPA pts
Experience or 'Must have' skills: Candidates must have 2 yrs in specialty.
Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes, vasopressors, sedation
Common titratable &/or set rate drips: vasopressors, sedation
Shifts & Scheduling 12 hr shifts, 6:45-7:15, schedules made out about 6 weeks in advance.
Block scheduling: No
Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
Holiday Requirements: will be addressed during that time
Floating Requirements: Any of the PCU and CICU, tele or medsurg units. In CICU they will have an ICU patient not a open heart
