Candidates must have experience with ICP monitoring and ventriculostomies.
Candidates must have trauma experience.
Candidates must have 2-3 years in specialty.
Previous travel experience preferred.
Description:
Telemetry, L/D, Emergency and Critical Care RNs will take a proctored Dysrhythmia Test onsite, day one.
This is a PASS/FAIL test.
Holiday RTO will be considered; however, it cannot be guaranteed.
The intensive care unit has 30 beds.
Nurse to patient ratios are 1 to 1-2.
90% of the time, the ratio will be 1 to 2.
BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
PALS is preferred.
If a traveler stays longer than 6 months, PALS would be required after 6 months.
Candidates must have experience with post-TPA patients.
RNs are required to titrate drips, including vasopressors and sedation.
There is a charge nurse available 24/7 who does not take patient assignments.
A house supervisor is present 24/7.
There is one unit tech for all 30 beds, providing more secretary work than bedside work.
An intensivist is available 24/7 in-house.
Respiratory therapy is available in the ICU 24/7.
RT equipment includes Hamilton vents.
Tele/monitor techs are not present; RNs must interpret their own strips.
The unit secretary will run strips.
Shifts are 12 hours, beginning at 6:45 AM and ending at 7:15 PM.
Schedules are made out about 6 weeks in advance.
Travelers are the first to be moved if needed.
There is no block scheduling.
Weekend requirements are every other weekend.
Holiday requirements will be addressed during that time.
There is no call or standby requirement.
Floating may be required to any of the PCU, CICU, tele, or med-surg units.
In CICU, travelers will have an ICU patient, not an open-heart.
The dress code is navy scrubs.
This is a fast-paced unit.
Travelers must be open to asking questions or seeking help when needed.
Candidates must be able to get along well with others.
The hospital has a robust interventional radiology program.
The unit is traveler-friendly.
The hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
The charting system used is Cerner.
