Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Day Shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 AM) | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation required
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct, primary nursing care to critically ill patients in an 8-bed ICU with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2–3, covering diagnoses including respiratory failure, post-surgical, post-CVA, post-trauma, wound care, IV antibiotic therapy, and cardiac conditions
Manage and titrate ICU-level drips including Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Levophed, Dopamine, and Cardizem
Care for sedated and ventilated patients, including tracheostomy management, PEG tube care and feedings, and CVC/PICC/Midline usage and care
Collaborate with Respiratory Therapy (available in-house 24/7) on ventilator, CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygen management; troubleshoot respiratory equipment as needed
Monitor patients via hard-wired Phillips telemetry systems centrally monitored within the ICU; work alongside on-unit telemetry technicians
Float to medical-surgical unit as needed per staffing requirements
Required Qualifications
Active Illinois RN license, or confirmation that the application process has been initiated prior to start
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
Demonstrated experience caring for sedated and ventilated ICU patients
Proficiency with titrating vasopressors and sedation/pain control drips
Experience with tracheostomy care, PEG tube feedings, and central line (CVC/PICC/Midline) management
Must be able to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
Preferred Experience / Skills
Prior experience in a critical care or ICU setting with a high-acuity patient population including post-trauma and post-surgical cases
Familiarity with Phillips telemetry monitoring systems
Experience working in environments where nurses provide primary care without nurse aide or patient care tech support
