Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Labor and Delivery (L&D) nurse for a maternal infant unit located in Richmond, Virginia. This role involves providing direct patient care to women during labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care, supporting clinical procedures, and ensuring safety and comfort of patients. The position requires a dedicated professional capable of working in a fast-paced environment focused on maternal and neonatal health.

Job Details:

  • Location: 1401 Johnston Willis Drive, Richmond, VA 23235
  • Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: At least 2 years of labor and delivery nursing experience, including experience working in high-volume labor, delivery, and postpartum units; Certifications required include BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification.
  • Preferred Qualifications: More than 2 years of labor experience, particularly in an LDRP setting with high birth volumes.
  • Type of Unit: Maternal infant unit with approximately 24 beds and a team of 71 staff members.
  • Patient Ratios: Labor 1:1 (most of the time), postpartum 5-6:1, nursery 5-6:1
  • Equipment and EMR: GE fetal monitors, Meditech EMR system
  • Typical Procedures: Vaginal deliveries, C-sections, antepartum care, newborn, and postpartum care
  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs; MIU nurses wear pink badges for infant security
  • Schedule Details: Work every third weekend with 12 hours of on-call hours every four weeks
