- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,130-$2,250
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts
- Hours Per Week: 36
- Shift Notes: Every other weekend and major holiday coverage required; on-call up to 24 hours per 6 weeks
- Unit Setting: High-acuity Labor & Delivery / Women’s Health
Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse license in Virginia or compact state eligibility
- Minimum of 1 year of recent RN experience required
- 1-2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience preferred
- Recent experience in antepartum, intrapartum, cesarean section, postpartum, and magnesium sulfate administration
- BLS, ACLS, and NRP required
- Fetal heart monitoring certification preferred
- Experience with EPIC and Perinatal Centricity preferred
- Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam
- Hospital experience required
- Ability to scrub or assist in deliveries preferred
- Ability to circulate C-sections required
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for mothers, newborns, and families throughout the labor and delivery process
- Perform ongoing assessments, monitor fetal status, and respond to changes in maternal or neonatal condition
- Administer medications safely and support interventions such as magnesium sulfate therapy
- Assist with triage, stabilization, and emergency management in a high-acuity obstetrical setting
- Circulate C-sections and support deliveries as needed
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to develop and carry out individualized care plans
- Educate patients and families on labor, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, and newborn care
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow evidence-based clinical practices
- Support a safe, respectful, and family-centered care environment
